Calcium silica is a white odourless solid that is virtually insoluble in water. Calcium silica occurs in its natural form in the mineral wollastonite (CaSiO3). It is obtained by reacting calcium oxide with silica. Calcium silicate products have excellent thermal and mechanical properties, making them ideal for high temperature applications up to 1100°C, especially as back-up insulation for all types of furnaces. Calcium silica fire and thermal insulation products protect personnel and equipment, save space and energy, and improve processes and efficiency.
