Product Overview
Calcium Silicon (CaSi) is a composite alloy made from calcium and silicon, typically produced by carbothermic reduction in a submerged electric arc furnace. It is widely used in the steelmaking and foundry industries as a powerful deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and inclusion modifier. Calcium Silicon is essential for producing high-quality clean steels and ductile cast irons.
Key Features
Strong Deoxidation: Calcium has a high affinity for oxygen, effectively removing oxides from molten steel.
Inclusion Modification: Converts hard, brittle alumina inclusions into lower-melting-point calcium aluminates that are less harmful to steel properties.
Desulfurization: Reduces sulfur content in steel, improving mechanical properties.
Sulfide Shape Control: Spheroidizes manganese sulfide (MnS) inclusions, enhancing toughness and machinability.
Carbide Stabilization (in cast iron): Promotes formation of spheroidal graphite in ductile iron production.
