Ferrosilicon 72 is a universal 'thermal hysteresis agent' used in the production of carbon and stainless steel. This additive is used in conjunction with other ferroalloys for the deoxidation process of steel, as well as for the production of silicon itself. It is also used in the production of cast iron because it can accelerate graphitization. In the manufacturing process, ferrosilicon replaces the demand for ferromanganese, calcium silicate, and calcium silicate.

The main uses of ferrosilicon

1. Steel industry

Deoxidizer:
During the steelmaking process, ferrosilicon 72 is a crucial deoxidizer. Ferrosilicon 72 combines with oxygen in molten steel to form silicon dioxide (SiO ₂), which forms slag and is discharged, significantly improving the purity and mechanical properties of steel.
Alloy additives:
Ferro silicon 72 can enhance the strength, hardness, and elasticity of steel, as well as improve its corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance. It is widely used in the production of special steels such as spring steel, tool steel, and stainless steel.
• Foundry industry:
Adding ferrosilicon (usually FeSi75) as an inoculant to cast iron can promote graphite precipitation, improve the toughness and fatigue resistance of cast iron, and is commonly used in castings such as automotive parts and pipelines.

2. Ferroalloy production

As a reducing agent, participate in the production of magnesium metal (through the Pidgeon process), or use it to manufacture other ferroalloys such as silicon calcium alloys and silicon manganese alloys.

3. Other industrial sectors

Chemical industry: used for the production of compounds such as silicone and organosilicon, or as reducing agents to participate in chemical reactions.
• Electrode coating: Ferrosilicon powder can enhance the stability and welding quality of the electrode.
New energy: In the early stages of preparing photovoltaic silicon materials, it may be used as one of the raw materials (requiring further purification).
