Silicon-manganese alloy((SiMn) is a metallic ferro alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron, and a small amount of carbon and other elements. It is also a widely used ferroalloy at present. The melting temperature range of ferromanganese alloy containing sufficient silicon is 1075°C-1320°C. Most of them are smelted in open and fixed submerged heat electric furnaces. In recent years, rotary and closed electric furnaces have been used for production. ferrosilicon manganese is a reducing agent for smelting medium and low-carbon ferromanganese and metal manganese, and it is also used as a compound deoxidizer, alloy agent, and desulfurizer in steelmaking production. Usually, 40% is used as a reducing agent, and 60% is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent.

Silicon Manganese Use
The silicon and manganese in the SiMn alloy have a strong affinity with oxygen. The oxides produced by using the ferro silico manganese in molten steel have the advantages of low melting point, easy floating, large particles, and good deoxidation effect. If manganese and silicon are used for separate deoxidation under the same conditions, the burning loss rate will be higher than that of ferro silicon manganese, so it is considered an indispensable composite deoxidizer and alloy additive in the iron and steel industry.
As the main member of ferroalloy, manganese silicon alloy is used in a wide range of modern industries and economies. Similar to the downstream applications of ferroalloys, ferrosilicomangenet are mainly used in the iron and steel industry, and the amount of manganese used accounts for more than 90% of the total. A small number of manganese-silicon alloys are also used in the chemical industry, light industry, building materials industry, electronics industry, and other fields.
