The hazards of ammonia gas

Ammonia is a colorless gas with a strong pungent odor, lighter than air. As long as there is 0.037 mg/L of ammonia in the air, people can smell the smell; if it exceeds 1.2 mg/L, they will feel strong irritation. According to regulations, the maximum ammonia content in the air shall not exceed 0.03 mg/L. If a large amount of ammonia gas leaks out, especially if the ammonia bottle explodes and the ammonia pipes and valves are damaged, the diffusion will pose a serious threat to human safety.

Some people think that ammonia has a special smell, and it can be detected immediately if there is a slight leakage; its lower explosion limit is relatively high, and it is not easy to reach the explosion limit, so the explosion-proof safety work is ignored, which is actually wrong. Although a small amount of leakage does not easily reach the explosion limit concentration, but when the ammonia bottle explodes, or the pipeline or valve is damaged, a large amount of ammonia will rush out in a very short period of time, which is very likely to reach the explosion limit. Therefore, it is very necessary to install an ammonia alarm.

Which industries need to install the ammonia gas detector?
Chemical industry: In the chemical industry, ammonia can be used as a raw material for fertilizer production and as a refrigerant for refrigeration systems.

Smart public toilets: The two main gases that cause toilet odors are ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. The ammonia sensor can monitor the concentration of ammonia in the toilet in real time, so that the toilet can be cleaned in a timely and effective manner, bringing people a comfortable feeling.

Automobile industry: Nitrogen oxides in automobile exhaust have brought great harm to the environment. For the treatment of automobile exhaust, an ammonia selective redox system is generally used. In this system, the amount of ammonia and oxygen added should be appropriate, otherwise it will cause additional pollution, so an ammonia sensor is required.

Poultry industry: Ammonia is one of the harmful gases in farms. It is often adsorbed or dissolved on the mucous membranes, damp walls and ground of livestock and poultry. It is strongly irritating and corrosive to skin tissue and destroys the structure of cell membranes. A high concentration of ammonia can also harm the staff. It can be seen that the detection of the concentration of ammonia is essential for the agricultural and breeding industry.
