Product Introduction
Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an ultra-hard synthetic compound of silicon and carbon that occurs naturally only in minute quantities as the rare mineral moissanite. First synthesized commercially in 1891, SiC has become one of the most important advanced ceramic materials due to its exceptional properties.
Our company produces high-purity silicon carbide through the Acheson process, where silica sand and petroleum coke are electrically heated to temperatures exceeding 2,500°C. This results in either:
Black SiC (98.5% purity) for industrial applications
Green SiC (99.5%+ purity) for precision applications
Single-crystal SiC for semiconductor use
Available forms include powders, grains, bonded shapes, and advanced semiconductor wafers.
