Silicon Carbon Alloy (High Carbon Silicon) is a composite alloy deoxidiser, which can replace the more expensive traditional deoxidisers – ferrosilicon powder, calcium carbide, carbon powder and alloy powder.

The main market of silicon carbon alloy is steelmaking, casting, aluminium processing and other industries. Silicon carbon alloy in the deoxidation at the same time there is a certain degree of desulphurisation, carbon role, can replace part of the carbon enhancer, thus greatly reducing the cost of steelmaking. High-carbon silicon is favoured by many metallurgical manufacturers because its price is lower than ferrosilicon and silicon metal. Deoxidation effect

The impact on the quality of steel

high-carbon silicon can improve the steel of sulfur, phosphorus and other non-metallic impurities, improve the purity of steel, but also as an additive to improve the organisation of cast iron, to improve the quality and performance of steel; silicon metal to a certain extent can also affect the performance of iron and steel, but for the improvement of the effect of the impurities is not as pronounced as high-carbon silicon.

Environmental protection and energy saving

For Steelmaking:

Deoxidising agent: The silicon element in high carbon silicon has strong affinity with oxygen, and can quickly react with the oxygen in steel to form steel slag floating to the surface of steel, so as to achieve the purpose of deoxidising, which can effectively reduce the oxygen content in steel and improve the purity and quality of steel.
Alloying agent: Carbon and silicon is an important element to determine the performance of steel, unoxidised carbon and silicon can be dissolved in steel to increase the effect of silicon and carbon, which can adjust the chemical composition and mechanical properties of steel, adding a certain amount of silicon in steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel.
Slag collector: Putting a certain proportion of high-carbon silicon into steel water can make the oxides in the steelmaking process hold together quickly, which is convenient for filtration and processing, making the steel purer and thus improving the density and hardness of steel.

For Casting:

Inoculant: Adding silicon carbon alloy in the cast iron process can be used as an inoculant to promote graphitisation, reduce the tendency of white mouth, increase the number of graphite spheres and improve the integrity of the graphite spheres, thus improving the quality and performance of the castings, and making the casting's mechanical properties and machinability effectively improved.
Spheroidal agent: It helps to make graphite spheroidisation, improve the mechanical properties of cast iron, especially toughness and ductility, and can be used to produce various grades of cast steel parts and cast non-ferrous alloys.
Powder metallurgy: It can be used as additives to improve the physical and chemical properties of powder metallurgy materials, such as improving the hardness, strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the materials.
