For Steelmaking:

Alloying agent: Carbon and silicon is an important element to determine the performance of steel, unoxidised carbon and silicon can be dissolved in steel to increase the effect of silicon and carbon, which can adjust the chemical composition and mechanical properties of steel, adding a certain amount of silicon in steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel.
