Silicon Metal  is a high-purity metallurgical grade silicon produced by smelting quartz and carbonaceous reducing agents in an electric arc furnace. It contains a minimum of 98.5% silicon, with strictly controlled levels of iron, aluminum, and calcium. As a fundamental raw material for many industrial sectors, Silicon Metal 553 is widely used in aluminum alloy production, chemical industry (silicones, silanes), and semiconductor manufacturing. Its excellent combination of purity and cost-effectiveness makes it a preferred choice for bulk industrial applications.

3. Main Applications

 

In aluminum alloys, silicon metal serves as an alloying agent to improve the strength, hardness, and castability of aluminum products. It also plays a key role as a raw material in the production of silicones, silanes, and other organosilicon compounds. In steelmaking, it is used as a deoxidizer and alloy additive in specialty steel production. Additionally, silicon metal is utilized in the manufacture of electronic materials, including polysilicon for solar cells and semiconductors.
