Silicon metal Market Snapshot – Quick Update
Futures rebounded off recent lows and are now consolidating in a narrow range. The initial bounce triggered some spot buying and speculative orders, but after the rebound, trading volume has cooled significantly. End‑users are mostly running down existing inventories.

Spot market
A few producers with stock on hand are offering small concessions, but most mills are holding their quotes steady, as they are still delivering against earlier hedging orders.
Southern production during the wet season is largely fixed – no further increases expected (Sichuan ~33 furnaces, Yunnan ~39). However, northern Xinjiang (Yili area) may see 9 furnaces temporarily shut down around the 14th, so total supply could edge slightly lower in the near term.

Demand
Polysilicon and silicone plants are scheduled to restart after maintenance, which will lift consumption versus current levels. Still, the monthly supply‑demand balance remains in surplus overall.
No supportive policies in sight. Prices continue to be driven by sporadic events and futures moves rather than fundamentals. Most producers are already operating below cash cost, and with futures trading in a low range, there is little room for fresh hedging.

Outlook
The market lacks strong directional catalysts. Surplus persists, but cost support and potential supply cuts (Xinjiang) may limit downside. Watch for futures volatility and any changes in downstream restarts.
