Its main components are silicic acid and its polymers, along with other elements such as alumina and alkali. It is classified into different types based on its source. In metallurgy, it can be used as a flux to increase the furnace temperature, promote the aggregation of oxides and removal, and is utilized for steel purification, improving the quality of castings, and as a deoxidizer in metallurgy. Additionally, after treatment, silicon slag can be used to produce products such as white carbon black, refractory materials, and sodium silicate, which has the value of being recycled.

 

Silicon slag is the floating slag that floats on the furnace during the smelting process of industrial silicon and silicon iron alloy, and it is also a type of solid waste in the production of alumina.Its chemical composition mainly consists of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), with a typical content ranging from 40% to 60%. In addition, it also contains various components such as alumina (Al₂O₃), iron oxide (Fe₂O₃), alkali, sulfur, etc.
